Jonah 2:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jonah 2:7-9 shows a moment of distress that becomes prayer to the LORD, entering the inner sanctuary. It warns that chasing vanities forsakes mercy, while gratitude and vows point to true salvation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your soul's fainting is the mind overwhelmed by appearances; remember the LORD within means turn your attention to the I AM and the temple of awareness you carry. The temple is your state of consciousness, a sanctuary where prayers ascend without petitioning a distant sky. To observe lying vanities is to cling to outward images and fears that pretend to define you, and such images dissolve mercy by separating you from your true self. The passage invites you to choose gratitude as a stepping-stone; your voice of thanksgiving is the acknowledgment that you and God are one in being. Saying I will pay that which I have vowed is a commitment to your inner truth, not a performance for a distant reward. Salvation is of the LORD signifies that all deliverance springs from recognizing that God is the I AM here and now, the indefinable presence you awaken to. Practice this by turning mental sight inward, releasing vain pursuits, and affirming in the heart that salvation is already present as your state of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already within the holy temple of your mind; say Salvation is of the LORD and feel the gratitude rise. Then revise restless thoughts to the awareness that the I AM is present now.
