Inner Light Awakens Sight

John 9:1-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 9 in context

Scripture Focus

1And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
John 9:1-12

Biblical Context

Jesus heals a man born blind, revealing that the works of God come through inner awakening. The clay and washing symbolize forming a new image in consciousness that leads to sight.

Neville's Inner Vision

Begin with the idea that the blind man represents a state of consciousness waiting for the I AM to reveal itself. Jesus stands for your inner light the light of the world that you are when awakened. He declares that the works of God should be manifest in him, meaning your inner faculty of seeing is demonstrated through your life. The clay he makes and the spit of the old belief symbolize the mental material from which a new image is formed. You fashion a new assumption in the mind and release it as a definite image. The pool of Siloam meaning Sent is your next move act from the inner conviction that you have already received the sight wash and watch the sense of separation fall away. After washing, the man comes seeing not by a miracle apart from you but by your renewed state of consciousness. Your neighbors and doubts may resist but they cannot deny what you now know in your heart you are the I AM you are healed you are seeing.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are already seeing. Feel the light in your inner eye and act today from that fulfilled state.
