Freedom By The Son

John 8:36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 8 in context

Scripture Focus

36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:36

Biblical Context

The verse proclaims that freedom comes from the Son; when the Son makes you free, you are truly free.

Neville's Inner Vision

John 8:36 presents the truth that true liberty is a gift produced by the inner I AM, the Son within. When you identify with the Son, freedom is not a future outcome but a state of consciousness already established in you. The Father’s realm is your awareness; the Son makes free when you no longer contract your sense of self to limitation. The verse invites you to imagine liberty as your present mode of being, for imagination is the instrument by which reality is shaped. If you dwell in the assumption of freedom, the inner movements shift and the outer scene follows suit. You awaken to the fact that the bondage you fear is a dream of the ego, not the truth of your being; as you hold to the I AM and the liberty it authorizes, the sense of being bound dissolves. The conditions of life no longer register as authorities, for you are governed by the liberty already granted by your own inner Son. Practice steadiness of attention on this truth, and let your inner state rewrite the story your senses tell.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the feeling of freedom now by silently declaring I am free, and dwell in that state until it feels natural. Then revise any lingering limitation by affirming the inner Son has already freed you.
