Biblical Context
Many believed in Jesus, while the authorities plotted to seize him. Jesus speaks of a little while with them and a departure to the One who sent him, signaling a shift from outward signs to inner presence.
Neville's Inner Vision
Belief is a state of consciousness. The murmuring crowd represents a habitual self that looks for signs in the world. Miracles are inner movements of awareness, not distant acts. The Pharisees who would seize Jesus symbolize an old mental order trying to imprison the new Christ within by fear of loss and control. When Jesus says that a little while he is with them, he is pointing to the temporary outer expression of the I AM in form, while the true self returns to the Father—the indwelling source. To seek him outwardly and to be unable to come is to expose that the seeker is still identified with the old state. The invitation now is inward: know that the Christ is not separate from you but your own awareness, the I AM you are. Put differently, you are being asked to leave the external battlefield and reside in the consciousness that already contains all that you seek. In this moment, the inner Christ is always present as your true reality; belief awakens it into living presence.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you are already where the Christ is—present now as the I AM. Close your eyes and feel the inner presence; revise any sense of separation and silently repeat I AM within until it feels real.
