Inner Life of Spirit and Word
John 6:59-63 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus teaches in the synagogue that the Spirit gives life and the flesh profits nothing; his words are spirit and life, inviting inner reception beyond surface understanding. The crowd's murmur signals the pull of the old self, but the inner listener can revise and awaken.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, you are not reading a history but listening to the inner law of your consciousness. When the text says the flesh profits nothing and the words are spirit and life, it is pointing to the distinction every man must learn between outward appearances and the life within. The Spirit is your I AM, the ever-present awareness that does not come and go with sensation or opinion. To hear these words as life is to shift your inner state from reaction to recognition: in imagination you are feeding on spirit, and your daily world begins to respond as life becomes your own creation. If your mind murmurs that a teaching is hard, remember that hardness on the surface is simply the old pattern clinging to form; lift your gaze to the inner Son of Man who ascends within you, the one who existed before and now anchors you in the present moment. The words I speak are spirit and life means you are the speaker, and the spoken word is the moment you choose to inhabit with life.
Practice This Now
Practice: close your eyes, place a hand on your heart, and revise with the statement I AM the Spirit that quickens my life; feel it real until your outer scenes begin to reflect inner life.
