Biblical Context
John 6:49-50 contrasts the manna of old with the bread that comes from heaven. It promises a life that does not die when the old self fades.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness and perished; so too do you forgetful ones chase outer sustenance, thinking it grants lasting life. Yet the bread which cometh down from heaven is not a crumb on the tongue but a consciousness that nourishes from within. The body does not determine life; the I AM that thou art is the living bread. When you 'eat' this bread in imagination, you align with a you that never dies, not by denying death but by claiming a continuous, unbroken presence. The old story of scarcity dissolves as you dwell in the awareness that you are already that which gives life to all things. In practice, feel the sensation of being nourished by the I AM, not by offerings outside. As you assume the feeling of the bread—presence, sufficiency, and perpetual youth—the sense of lack falls away and death loses its sting. The manna is memory; the heavenly bread is realized consciousness. The former keeps you in the wilderness; the latter reveals the promised land inside.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and declare, 'I am the bread that comes down from heaven,' then feel the nourishment flowing through your mind. If lack arises, revise to 'I AM' and rest in the sense of being fed by the I AM.
