Walking on Inner Seas
John 6:16-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The disciples sail at night as a strong wind rises; Jesus appears walking on the sea and tells them not to be afraid, then they receive him into the ship and immediately reach land.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner workshop of your consciousness, the sea stands for the turbulence of fear and limitation. The disciples are your various states of mind rowing toward a desired outcome. When Jesus walks on the water and says, It is I; be not afraid, this is the I AM within you announcing its presence, larger than the scene of the storm. To receive him into the ship is not a factual event but a turning of belief—inviting that inner Presence to govern your life and carry you through the turbulent argument of lack. As you yield to that Presence, the external scene shifts: the ship seems to be brought to shore immediately, showing the power of alignment over effort. The practice is to cultivate the assumption that you are already led, protected, and united with the I AM; fear dissolves as you stand in the consciousness that you are not the storm but the watcher who commands it. Keep faith steady, and the next breath of experience will reflect your inner state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the I AM is already present in your situation; declare internally that It is I, the I AM within me, guiding this ship. Feel the fear dissolve and sense the ship landing on shore.
