Inner Witness, Outer Proof

John 5:36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

36But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
John 5:36

Biblical Context

He claims a greater proof than John: the Father gives him works to finish, and doing them bears witness that he was sent.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, John 5:36 points to the inner witness that is stronger than any external name. The Father is not outside, but within—the I AM you dwell in. The 'works' are the movements of your own consciousness: the thoughts, feelings, and visions you finish by assuming a state of completion. When you honor that inner command, these works testify to your oneness with the Source, and the outer world will begin to bear witness to that reality. The so-called mission becomes simple: prove to yourself, in imagination, that you are sent by the Father, that you are the instrument through which divine purpose moves. Do not seek external confirmation from John or others; seek the felt truth of your own assumption and let the results follow as evidence. Your inner proof is the greater witness, and it is always available in the present moment.

Practice This Now

Choose a simple outcome you desire and, in a moment of quiet, assume the feeling: 'I am the Father’s witness; the works are finished in me.' Hold that feeling as real as your next breath, and notice what shifts in awareness.
