Read John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

31If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
John 5:31-32

Biblical Context

Self-testimony alone isn’t proof; another witness exists, and that witness is true.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage, Jesus points to two kinds of testimony: the ego’s claim to witness, and the Father’s witness within. In Neville’s psychology, 'I' is not merely the self that opinions and negotiates with others, but the state of awareness in which all images are fashioned. The 'another' is the inner I AM—the constant witness that testifies to what your consciousness has become. If you rest your sense of reality on your own voice, you will find it untrustworthy, for it is ever doubting and seeking approval. Yet the inner witness, the true testimony, remains sure, for it is the nature of awareness itself. Therefore you can revise your approach: stop seeking external validation, and align with the inner witness by assuming it has already testified to your reality. When you imagine and feel as though you are seen by that witness—acknowledged, blessed, and complete—the outer appearances mirror that conviction. The truth you crave is not out there; it is within the I AM, bearing witness that you are already what you seek.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'There is another witness within me—the inner I AM—whose testimony is true.' Then feel this witness affirming your reality, and dwell in the sense of being witnessed as complete.
