Awakening the Inner Voice
John 5:25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse speaks of a future hour—and a present moment now—when those asleep in spirit awaken by hearing the voice of the Son within, and live.
Neville's Inner Vision
John 5:25 speaks to the inner awakening of consciousness. The dead are not corpses but states of mind that have forgotten their true source. The hour is coming, and now is, because imagination is the instrument by which time is rearranged; when you hear the voice of the Son of God within, you align with your higher self and the vibration of life returns. The Son of God within is the I AM, the awareness that never sleeps. To hear is to assent to that truth in feeling and assumption, not merely to intellectual belief. When you answer with an inner, unwavering 'yes,' the inert layers of consciousness begin to move; what was dead feels revived, fresh energy flows, choices become alive with meaning. The resurrection is not future, but present, a shift in your state of consciousness. The outer events reflect the inner commitment you have made in imagination. So, the living arise as you claim the reality of the Son within and dwell there, quietly, until it becomes your apparent life.
Practice This Now
Assume you are the I AM; hear the inner voice as the Son speaking within you, and feel it real now. If doubt arises, revise it by declaring, 'I am the life and breath of God within me,' and linger in the feeling.
