Inner Unity of Father and Son

John 5:19-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 5 in context

Scripture Focus

19Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
John 5:19-23

Biblical Context

Jesus declares that the Son can do nothing by himself, only what he sees the Father doing; the Father loves the Son and will reveal greater works, grant life, and entrust judgment to the Son, so all should honor him as they honor the Father.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here the inner man sees that the 'Father' is the intrinsic I AM, and the 'Son' is the outward expression of that awareness. The Son cannot act except as he peers into the mind of the Father and mirrors his deeds; therefore, your actions are not truly yours until you have identified with the Source that animates them. The Father’s love for the Son and the revelation of all things to him declare that your consciousness can be trusted to reveal even greater works as you dwell in the I AM. Life and vitality are not given to a separate doer but to the one who refuses to be separate from God. The statement that the Father judges no man and that all judgment is committed to the Son invites you to realize that judgment is a function of your state of consciousness, not a distant verdict. When you honor the Son as you honor the Father, you align with a single authority and awaken the resurrection and the new life within.

Practice This Now

Assume the state 'I AM' as the Father within; revise any sense of separation by seeing your thoughts and acts as the Son reflecting that inward life, and feel the life-flow quickening now.
