Through Samaria to the I AM

John 4:4-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

4And he must needs go through Samaria.
5Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
John 4:4-6

Biblical Context

Jesus travels through Samaria and arrives at Jacob's well. He sits and rests, his weariness signaling a pause in the outer journey and a turn inward.

Neville's Inner Vision

John 4:4-6 is not a map of geography but a map of your inner life. When you hear 'he must needs go through Samaria,' interpret Samaria as the threshold where old divisions in consciousness meet the power of the I AM. The weariness Jesus feels at the well is the mind exhausted by stray thoughts, the surface level of the day; the well itself is the deep well of awareness within you—the place where you can pause and be still. The sixth hour speaks of the moment when awareness is fully present, neither chasing nor resisting. In this scene you are invited to revise the journey in your own consciousness: the external route matters less than the inner claim, 'I Am.' Your persistence and witness arise as you dwell in the I AM presence, allowing appearances to reflect your inner state. By resting at the inner well, you enact a transformation: perception shifts to accord with the reality you already hold in the divine I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine a quiet well at the center of your chest where awareness flows. Say silently, I AM here now, and let that identity rest upon every thought until the world conforms to it.
