Inner Sowing and Reaping

John 4:37-38 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

37And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
John 4:37-38

Biblical Context

John 4:37-38 teaches that one sows and another reaps; you are sent to reap where you did not labor, entering into the labors of those who came before.

Neville's Inner Vision

I tell you, the field Jesus refers to is your own mind. Sowing and reaping are states of consciousness. When you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, you have sown the future; yet you reap now by entering into the labor of those conditions that preceded you. Other men labored in the old dream, and you are invited to step into their labors as if the harvest were already yours. The command I sent you is a whisper to your present consciousness: awaken to the truth that the Kingdom is within. Do not seek distant fields; close the gap between end and means by aligning your I AM with the fulfilled end. Your imagination is not a pastime but the power that chooses the soil, waters it with faith, and gathers the fruit. As you assume, your inner atmosphere becomes the field where others' work bears fruit in your experience.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the end: the harvest is here, and you have sown and reaped. Feel the completed work in your chest; see yourself moving through your day as a farmer of your mind, gathering fruit that others began.
