Inner Water of John 4:18
John 4:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus reveals that the woman's past marriages and her current partner symbolize inner states of consciousness, not mere history. The verse points to how our identity is shaped by beliefs and attachments we hold in awareness.
Neville's Inner Vision
John 4:18 speaks not of judgment, but of inner history. The Samaritan woman's five husbands are the sequence of identifications your mind has worn—roles, beliefs, attachments you deemed necessary for security and identity. The man you now call 'another' is not your true husband, because your awareness has not yet rested in the One I AM. Jesus names the truth to loosen the grip of the old image, showing that the outward scene is only the echo of an inner state. Your present sense of self is a chorus of past assumptions being lived as the now. The invitation is to revise by assuming the state of your complete relation to God: you are one with the I AM, the source of living water. When you abide there, the old attachments dissolve and perception realigns to mirror your inner conversion. Do not condemn the past; honor it as the terrain your imagination has traversed, then return to the living truth within. The power you seek is your own awareness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the state 'I AM' now and revise the scene to show you fulfilled, in harmony with the One. Sit with the feeling of that truth until it feels natural and let the outer picture yield.
