Inner Birth Through John 3:4

John 3:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 3 in context

Scripture Focus

4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:4

Biblical Context

Nicodemus asks how a man can be born again, treating rebirth as a physical event. The passage points to inner renewal as a transformation of consciousness, not a literal birth.

Neville's Inner Vision

Nicodemus’ question reveals a mind clinging to outward birth. The true meaning is the awakening of the I AM, the realization that you are already the awareness that births all you see. If God is the I AM, then the second birth is a shift of consciousness, not a new womb. To enter this birth, you must revise your sense of self and attend to the living awareness within, not search outside. Picture yourself as already born of Spirit; the old self-image dissolves as you dwell in the reality of your divine nature. The “mother’s womb” becomes a symbol for limiting beliefs that housed you, now ready to be left behind. The birth occurs immediately in consciousness when you accept this truth and align your feelings with it. Do not argue with Nicodemus’s literalism; answer from within: I AM born anew, and my outer life reflects that inward birth as a natural consequence of this revision.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume the feeling of the new birth, and declare, I AM born of the Spirit now. Rehearse a revised self-image that reflects the awakened, divine you.
