The Inner Ruler Within Nicodemus
John 3:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He embodies the outward authority and standing of Jewish religious leadership.
Neville's Inner Vision
Nicodemus in this line is not a man alone but a state of consciousness—the 'ruler' who presumes authority from outer forms. In Neville's reading, the Pharisee stands at the gate of your mind, clinging to law, tradition, separation, and the sense that life is earned by works. Yet the I AM, the true awareness in you, already rules; every event you call 'external' is but a movement of your inner state. To move beyond Nicodemus is to revise your inner setup: replace the sense 'I am defined by what I do and what others think' with 'I am the I AM, the awareness that sees and causes all.' When you imagine the inner ruler as separate from you, you keep the barrier; when you claim that your life is governed by awareness, you dissolve the separation. The verse invites you to recognize that authority resides in the inner I AM, not in outer roles. Practice holds: assume the feeling that you are the ruler of your reality through awareness, and watch the appearances reflect your inner state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the feeling of the I AM as the ruler of your life. Declare inwardly, 'I am the I AM; all authority rests in awareness,' and imagine Nicodemus bowing to that inner throne.
