Biblical Context
In John 21:19, Jesus signals the manner of Peter's death to glorify God, then commands, 'Follow me,' underscoring that true discipleship begins with inner alignment and action.
Neville's Inner Vision
Peter's death speaks not to a physical fate alone, but to the erasing of the old self-identity that stands between you and the divine I AM. When the Master says, This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God, he is pointing you to the inner crucifixion—the letting go of fear, blame, and limitation so God can be revealed through your life. The following command is the real invitation: Follow me. Not to a distant external teacher, but to the living presence within you that already knows what it means to be truly useful, faithful, and alive. To glorify God is to allow the inner state of consciousness that you are to express as your outward circumstances. Your "work" and "vocation" become the demonstration of that inner alignment; your worship is the daily obedience to the I AM inside. The change is not in the world but in your identification. When you assume the state of the one who follows, you collapse the old self and awaken as the one who acts from divine impulse. The world then bears witness to the glory that is already yours.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise your self-image: I am the one who follows the inner call; the old self dies and reveals God within. Move through the day with that feeling active, acting from the I AM rather than from fear or habit.
