Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
John 21:1-4 shows Jesus revealing himself again at the Sea of Tiberias. The disciples do not recognise him at first and return to fishing, until morning when he stands on the shore.
Neville's Inner Vision
In John 21:1-4, the Sea of Tiberias is the sea of your own thoughts, the restless mind from which you seek yet often catch nothing. The disciples—Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, and the others—are the faculties and habits of consciousness moving in the old script of effort. When they say, I go a fishing, that choice reveals a reliance on external results rather than inner truth. Morning comes and Jesus stands on the shore, yet they do not recognise him; this is your moment of forgetfulness, the mind not aware that the I Am within is present as its own shore. To awaken is to realize that the shore is not apart from you but the very field of awareness in which you live. The risen Christ is your present consciousness, awaiting recognition in your inward sight. When you know him within, your striving yields to effortless trust, and abundance follows from the awareness that you already possess all nourishment in the inner life.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already standing on the shore of your own consciousness and feel the I AM greeting you. Revise any sense of separation until you know you are seen and guided by the Presence within.
