Breath of Spirit Within
John 20:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 20 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus breathes on the disciples and invites them to receive the Holy Spirit, signifying an inner impartation. The act points to an inner state of grace available to consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the breath in this scene is not a mere gesture of air but the symbolic act by which the I AM awakens your inner temple. When Jesus says, Receive ye the Holy Ghost, he invites your consciousness to be saturated with Spirit. In Neville's psychology, the disciples are states of awareness; the moment you experience a breath in and declare, I accept, you align with the Spirit already present in you—the Holy Ghost as the living presence now. The Lord's breath is your recognition that you are alive to the Presence, not separated from grace. Holiness is a condition of consciousness: you stand in favor as you acknowledge the one Presence, the I AM. Breathing becomes a technique: inhale the assurance that you are eternally loved and divine; exhale doubt and separation. The Spirit is not an external power arriving from outside; it is your awareness turning toward itself, a condensation of Grace into your daily scenes, ready to reform your relationships, your work, and your sense of self.
Practice This Now
Take a slow, deep breath and declare, I receive the Holy Spirit now. Rest in the I AM, feeling the Presence within as your natural and unaltered state.
