John 16:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 16 in context

Scripture Focus

1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
John 16:1-3

Biblical Context

Jesus warns his followers to expect offense and persecution; the time will come when they are expelled and killed, because people do not know the Father or Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

These verses reveal the inner weather of your consciousness. Offense is the signal that you are still identifying with a separate self, and the world will test that belief by casting you out or challenging your status. The claim that others kill you in God’s name is a projection of a mind that has not tuned to the Father within. The Father and Jesus are the I AM you already are; there is no external foe, only a belief to be revised. When you align with that inner unity, you are untouched by outward turmoil, for you live as the awareness that witnesses all events. The 'they' who oppose you reflect your own boundary-dreams, not a real enemy. By choosing the truth of the Father in you, you suspend offense and enter a state of peace that cannot be disturbed by opinion. The apparent persecution becomes a gift—an invitation to revise your sense of self until you stand as the I AM, witnessing rather than reacting to the world.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and let the I AM stand as your inner Father. Repeat, "I am the Father; I am one with God," and feel that certainty settle as your reality.
