Inner Witness Amid World Hatred

John 15:18-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 15 in context

Scripture Focus

18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.
23He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
John 15:18-27

Biblical Context

Jesus says that if you belong to the world, it would love you; but you are chosen out of the world, so the world hates you. Persecution will come because they know not the Father, and the Comforter will testify of him.

Neville's Inner Vision

All that you call external opposition is but a sign of your inner state awakening. When you awaken as the I AM, the world looks on with hostility because it imagines itself as separate from God. The world loves its own—your former self—but you have been chosen out of that identification; therefore the world hates the sense of being. The world’s persecution is not against you but against the old self that still believes in lack and separation. The Servant is not greater than the Lord; if they persecuted him, they will persecute your new self too, until you recognize the truth that the Comforter—the Spirit of truth—dwells within and testifies of the birth of the Christ in you. When the Comforter comes, you will bear witness because you have been with me from the beginning: your memory of the divine move is your own memory of I AM. So, meet every outer attack as a revision of your inner self; the more you align with the I AM, the more the outer world becomes a stage for your inner demonstration.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM as your real self now and revise any outward conflict as a movement within your consciousness. Feel the Comforter within testifying truth, and let your inner witness rise, unaffected by worldly opinions.
