The Way Within: Knowing the Path

John 14:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 14 in context

Scripture Focus

5Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
John 14:5

Biblical Context

Thomas asks Jesus how to know the way since they do not know where He is going. Jesus responds by implying that the way is found in an inner state of consciousness, not a distant location.

Neville's Inner Vision

I tell you, Thomas’s question masks a deeper hunger: you seek a way outside because you have not yet allowed the awareness of God to fill your mind. In truth the path Jesus speaks of is the path of your own consciousness. The I AM that Jesus names is not a person apart but your very awake presence. The moment you say 'I know the way' you are no longer asking for directions but confirming the alignment of your inner state with Truth. Doubt arises when you imagine a future journey; trust is a memory returning to the seat of the soul, a decision to inhabit the now with faith. When you pretend you already walk the path, you are not deceived; you are simply choosing to rule your inner weather until outer events echo your inner confidence. The way is not found; it is created by the feeling of permanence, the assurance that God is where you are looking, within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare: I am the way; I am already where I intend to go. Feel the I AM presence as your guide and revise any question of distance into a present-tense assurance.
