Inner Rejoicing: The Father Within

John 14:28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 14 in context

Scripture Focus

28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
John 14:28

Biblical Context

Jesus says he is going away to the Father, and his followers should rejoice because the Father is greater than he.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your reading of the text might fear loss, but Neville would see it as a conversion of consciousness. 'I go away' is the shift from a limited sense of self to the sender of all life—the I AM within. 'I go unto the Father' is a turning toward the higher Self; 'my Father is greater than I' is the revelation of that greater Self that animates even this body and its thoughts. When you truly love the master within, you rejoice at the change, for you know the Father is not elsewhere but inside, sustaining you. The departing Jesus is the voice of the old self bowing to the new awareness. The Father within is the one who becomes your guide, your memory, your life. So the verse invites you to celebrate the inner Father, because in that shift you awaken from lack to abundance, from separation to union, and the world rearranges to reflect your new assumption.

Practice This Now

Imagine and feel: I am that I AM. Assume the state of the Father within by silently declaring, 'The Father within me is greater than any condition,' and feel the uplift as if you are already living from that higher self.
