Peace Beyond the World Within

John 14:27-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 14 in context

Scripture Focus

27Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
John 14:27-28

Biblical Context

Jesus promises a lasting inner peace not tied to outward events, and asks you to let your heart be untroubled. He hints at a departure to the Father within, and a reunion with the divine presence.

Neville's Inner Vision

John 14:27-28 unveils a peace that does not depend on outward conditions. The peace the world offers is a bargain of changing events; this peace is a state of consciousness—the I AM presence within you. When Jesus says, I give you my peace, he invites you to awaken that you are awareness itself, not the flutter of fear thoughts. The departure and return signify leaving the old self and returning to the Father within—the greater life that the ego cannot touch. If you love me, you would rejoice that the Father is greater than the small self, for that is your true being. Do not trouble your heart or fear; rest in the realization that the Father is within you and you are in the Father. Practice this knowing: be still as the I AM, and the disturbances of the world fade as you acknowledge your divine presence.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already at peace. Silently say I am the I AM and feel the inner presence dissolving fear.
