Betrayal Within, I Am Light
John 13:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus speaks of a betrayal by someone close, highlighting that events unfold to fulfill scripture, even among friends.
Neville's Inner Vision
John tells us of a betrayal in the very act of sharing bread, but Neville would say the betrayal is not a person outside you but a movement inside your own consciousness. 'I speak not of you all' becomes the recognition that you, not some other soul, possess the 'chosen' state—the I AM here and now. The scripture fulfilled? it is the natural consequence of a mind clinging to separation. The heel lifted against me is the heel of any portion of self that pretends to be separate from God, any thought that says, 'I am not whole, I am lacking unity.' When you realize that every event in your life is a symbol from within, you are free to revise it. Say, 'I know whom I have chosen; the I AM within me encounters every apparent betrayal and converts it into the return of presence.' The 'betrayer' becomes a mirror of your own resistance to the truth of oneness; by choosing to dwell in the I AM, you awaken the law of imagination: the sense of betrayal dissolves as you inhabit the already-fulfilled kingdom of peace.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise the scene: declare 'I am the I AM; there is only unity,' then feel the sense of wholeness returning as if the betrayal never occurred.
