Martha and Mary: Inner Presence

John 11:20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 11 in context

Scripture Focus

20Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
John 11:20

Biblical Context

Martha immediately goes to meet Jesus when she hears he is coming, while Mary remains seated in the house.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here, the visitor is not a distant person but your I AM approaching your mind. Martha's swift advance to meet Jesus is an explicit act of assumption—she acts as if the fulfillment is already here. Mary's stillness is the other side: she remains in the certainty that God is present and trusts the timing of the divine plan. In Neville's language, both are states of consciousness within you. You are invited to cultivate the state that matches your desire, to revise the scene with the assumption that the encounter is already accomplished. The moment you become aware of a coming Presence, you can act as if it has occurred—this is feeling it real. Remember: imagination creates reality; the future you hope for is born in the present inner movement. Meet Him by a step of faith, or repose in the awareness that He is there now, and observe your outer world answer from that inner truth.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the scene is already done—the Presence is here. Feel it real in your chest, then move in daily life from that already-arrived state.
