John 11:17-19

Biblical Context

Jesus arrives in Bethany and finds Lazarus in the tomb for four days; many Jews come to comfort Mary and Martha.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this narrative, the tomb is a belief you carry that life is separated by death. Four days marks the stubborn length of that conviction, yet the Master enters the scene inside your own awareness. Bethany, the place of welcome and home, lies near your Jerusalem—the seat of sacred order in your mind—and here your friends and critics gather to speak comfort. Their words, though well-meaning, mirror the collective stories that pretend to protect you from loss. But the Jesus within you does not argue with the crowd; he acts by revoking the verdict of the tomb. The I AM awakens the dormant life by an inner command: you are not what you think has died; you are the living consciousness that can call forth what you desire. The resurrection is thus a present occurrence, not an event to wait for, realized when you refuse the old conclusion and insist that life is the nature of your awareness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM as your surrounding life. In inner sight, whisper 'Lazarus, come forth' and feel the buried life spring to presence now.
