Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus declares he is the door of the sheep, and true hearing comes through him. Through entering by him, one is saved and finds pasture, while the thief seeks to steal and destroy.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this text, the door is not a gate in the world but your own state of consciousness. To hear 'I am the door' is to recognize that entering, and thereby being saved, occurs when you identify with the I AM that is aware in you. The thieves who came before me are the old thoughts of separation, lack, and fear; they speak, but the sheep do not hear them because they hear the voice of the shepherd within. By stepping through this door in your imagination, you dwell in the pasture of present awareness, moving in and out within the single field of God’s presence. The life Jesus comes to give is life as you know it in consciousness—the feeling that there is always more than enough, that your needs are met by the one Life, here and now. The abundance is the quality of attention turned toward God, not a future event. Realize that salvation is a revision of your inner story, a conscious awakening to the Kingdom that already thrives within you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the door through which the Life of God enters my now.' Revise any sense of separation by imagining the pasture as already yours, and feel that abundance is your present reality.
