Inner Shepherd, Known by All

John 10:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 10 in context

Scripture Focus

14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
John 10:14-15

Biblical Context

Jesus proclaims Himself the good shepherd who knows His sheep and is known by them. He also states that the Father knows Him as He knows the Father, and that He lays down His life for the sheep.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this passage the Good Shepherd is the I AM you are in consciousness. The 'sheep' are your present states—habits, beliefs, thoughts—that must be known by your awareness. To know my sheep is to acknowledge these states with loving attention; to be known of mine is to sense your higher self recognizing you. The Father knowing the Son and the Son knowing the Father expresses the oneness of awareness—the Father is the I AM realizing itself, and you are that knowing. The line about laying down my life for the sheep points to a voluntary surrender of the old self, the ego’s fear, so a higher expression can emerge. Practice becomes alignment: assume the role of the inner shepherd, feel your life guarded by a larger I AM, and invite the old self to dissolve in love. When you dwell in this felt reality, you discover you and the Father are one, and life becomes a steady field of grace.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume you are the Good Shepherd for 60 seconds and feel yourself known by the Father and knowing the Father. Then revise the sense of your self to the higher I AM and lay down the old self to let grace flow.
