Scripture Focus

29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
John 1:29-31

Biblical Context

John the Baptist proclaims Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the world’s sin. He notes Jesus existed before him, and that his coming is to reveal the inner Christ to Israel.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this text the Lamb of God is not a distant sacrifice but the living state of awareness that dissolves the belief in separation. When you hear that the Lamb taketh away the sin of the world, translate it as a moment in which the idea of being separate from God is released from your mind. Jesus represents the inner Christ— the consciousness that was before the outward self and now appears as your present realization. John’s role as forerunner is a symbol: you must step back from the old self and let the inner light be revealed. To be made manifest to Israel means the Christ within becomes obvious to your inner Israel—the awakened, expectant part of you that recognizes truth. The I who witnesses is the I AM; the forgiveness is the inner revision that replaces fear with union. No external ritual creates this; it is an inner rearrangement of awareness that makes the kingdom of God present here and now.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I am the Lamb of God within me, taking away the sin of the world. Feel that forgiveness now and let the sense of separation melt as you rest in this inner realization.
