Whispers Of Inner Baptism
John 1:24-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Pharisees question John's baptism. John answers that he baptizes with water, but there stands one among them whom they do not know.
Neville's Inner Vision
John's scene is not about the outward rite, but about the inner posture of awareness. The water signifies externals; the true baptism occurs when consciousness opens to the Presence that stands within. The 'one among you' is the I AM that you do not recognize in the habit of looking for signs outside. He who comes after me is greater, not in time, but in realization: the awakened self that follows the old self. My role as John is to witness, to announce what is already true in you: you are the house where God stands, yet you are unaware. Humility is the recognition that I am not the source of this 'standing'; the Christ within is, and I am to align with that reality. When you feel this inner presence, the external rites become symbols that awaken rather than secure; the latchet to be loosed is the old self-image of separation. Practice this day-by-day: you do not seek the Christ; you acknowledge that the Christ is your very awareness, now alive and acting through your choices. By this, you are both witness and vessel of the inner truth.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise your sense of self: 'There stands the Christ within me now, greater than my former self.' Speak it softly, feel the I AM, the quiet authority, and let that sensation fill your chest.
