John 1:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 1 in context

Scripture Focus

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:1-2

Biblical Context

The verses declare that the Word was with God in the beginning and that the Word was God. They present the Word as the eternal principle from which reality arises.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the Word not as a distant proposition but as the living idea you entertain. In the beginning marks your timeless field of consciousness where the I AM is always present; the Word was with God expresses the unity of your thinking with universal Mind, and the Word was God declares that your thought, when vitally felt, becomes God in form. You are not asking God to come to your scene; you are recognizing that you are the manifestation of the Word already with God. The separation implied by with dissolves in inner experience: you and God are one, the Word simply animates your life as you align with it. Imagination creates reality; therefore the quality of your inner Word—your imagination, belief, and feeling—shapes the outer world. When you dwell in the assumption that you are the Word in perfect communion with God, your external circumstances adjust to reflect that inner coherence. The eternal present becomes your stage; you awaken as the I AM, and all things move to confirm that truth.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit quietly and assume the feeling, 'I am the Word, and I am with God,' as though this truth already governs your life. Then carry that consciousness into your day, revising any sense of separation until the world reflects the unity you hold.
