Job 9:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 9 in context

Scripture Focus

4He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
Job 9:4

Biblical Context

The verse proclaims that God is wise and mighty, and that resisting Him leads to downfall. It hints that human effort against divine will often ends in failure.

Neville's Inner Vision

Job’s line speaks in the tongue of the outer world, but in truth the 'God' he confesses is the I AM within you. The wise heart and the mighty power are not external rulers to bow to, but sensations of consciousness you awaken. When you acknowledge God as the I AM—your own awareness—you discover that no character of circumstance can prosper against you while you remember this truth. To oppose the inner God is to fight against your own being, and such resistance returns as conflict and lack. The verse therefore invites you to test a different posture: yield to the living wisdom and strength already present as you, and let your choices flow from that awareness. As you dwell in the feeling of I AM, possibilities align, problems recede, and providence appears as orderly guidance, not fortune's whim. The world’s bold efforts against life dissolve when seen as attempts of a sleeping self; the awakened self feels the invincible union of wisdom and power within. To try it now, simply assume the state 'I AM wise and mighty' as true and feel it real in your chest.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and revise any sense of weakness by declaring, 'I AM wise and mighty within me.' Feel the truth as a current in your chest, and let that awareness guide your next decision.
