Perfection Beyond Perception

Job 9:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 9 in context

Scripture Focus

21Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
Job 9:21

Biblical Context

Job 9:21 speaks of perfection outwardly while the soul remains unknown; the speaker would despise life, showing that true wholeness is an interior state rather than a worldly condition.

Neville's Inner Vision

Pause with the verse and observe: Job speaks as if perfection were a state one could attain by outward form, yet he confesses he would not know his soul and would despise life. In this psychology, the text reveals that life and perfection are not measured by appearances but by the state of inner consciousness. The 'I' who despises life is the restless mind clinging to conditions; the true you is the I AM, the awareness that feels and imagines. When you identify with a flawless outer self, you cut yourself off from the soul, the inner witness, and life becomes a burden. The remedy is to reverse this misidentification: imagine and assume the feeling of the I AM here and now. Accept that you are the living consciousness in which all events move; the soul is not distant but present whenever you turn your attention inward. By privileging inner awareness over outer perfection, you awaken to a perpetual reality—your life becomes what you imagine, for imagination is the true cause.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and say: I AM the perfect awareness that knows my soul and loves life. Rest in that feeling until it becomes your default state.
