Scripture Focus

21Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
Job 5:21

Biblical Context

This verse promises you will be hid from the scourge of the tongue and you need not fear destruction when it comes.

Neville's Inner Vision

See these lines as a map of your inner state, not a prediction about others. 'Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue' says your true self, the I AM, is insulated by awareness itself from the censure and rumor that circulate in the outer world. 'Neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh' points to fear as a sensation arising in mind, not a fate marching toward you. When you adopt the conscious identity 'I AM,' you establish a sanctuary where words cannot wound the living you. Providence and guided presence unfold as the steady sense of being that you are always already within, and faith becomes trust in that interior protection. The future is then hopeful because it is seen from the end—the truth of your being—rather than from the appearances of risk. With practice, you discover that protection is not something granted from without but a state you assume and feel as real here and now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state 'I AM.' Feel the interior shield and revise any anxious thought by affirming 'I am protected by the I AM' while breathing calmly for a minute.
