Job 5:2 Inner Wrath and Envy

Job 5:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 5 in context

Scripture Focus

2For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
Job 5:2

Biblical Context

The verse warns that wrath toward others and envy toward them destroy the self when entertained in consciousness. It invites you to see these energies as inner states you can revise with awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Wrath and envy are not external punishments but inner weather. When I cling to wrath, I am affirming a state of consciousness that kills the foolish man within me, for I am identifying with separation and judgment. When I cling to envy, I project scarcity and slay the silly one—my own capacity to respond with wisdom and compassion. In this light, the events of life are not punishments but signals showing me the quality of my inner I AM. To change what I meet, I do not battle it in the world but revise the state I inhabit: I imagine a higher self who forgives, who does not wave the banner of righteousness in others' faces, who trusts the abundance of the universe. By dwelling in the feeling of mercy and discernment, I shift the cause, not merely the effect. The 'foolish' and the 'silly' are not others to be corrected; they are parts of my own consciousness asking to be reminded of unity and abundance.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM state now and feel mercy replacing judgment. Revision: 'Wrath and envy are gone; I choose awareness and compassionate discernment.'
