Biblical Context
Job 5:12-13 shows that God thwarts the devices of the crafty and traps the wise in their own craft, so their schemes falter. Plainly, outer events reflect inner habits of mind, and your true power rests in the I AM.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the hush of your own consciousness, these lines speak not of distant judges but of the I AM you are. The crafty and the wise are the habits of mind you have trusted to govern life. When you cling to a plan, a clever maneuver, or a calendar of outcomes, you empower their failure; the devices you clutch become powerless as you turn to the one reality that cannot be shaken. Job's declaration becomes your daily law: the mind's cleverness is seen through and brought to naught by the greater intelligence that you ARE. By assuming a state in which the problem has already been resolved—the 'I AM' presence—you witness the collapse of the old craft and the headlong rushing of futile counsel. Do not fight them; correct your inner state and they dissolve. The moment you feel and dwell in your true nature as awareness, guidance flows, and the outer world follows suit, obedient to the interior order you have established. Providence is your inner alignment, not a distant spectacle.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a brief seated session, assume the state 'I Am' as the reality now, and revise any anxious plan by saying, 'Your schemes are dissolved in my awareness.' Feel it real by breathing into the sense of total being and observe the mind's objections fade.
