20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
Job 40:18-20

Biblical Context

It describes a being of unyielding strength and sovereign access to the ways of God. Its sustenance comes from the mountains as beasts of the field play nearby.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage the outer form is a mirror of inner life. The bones of brass and iron are your fixed convictions in the I AM, the steadfast self that cannot be moved by outward wind. To be chief of the ways of God is to recognize you are the sovereign center through which life moves; you are the I AM behind every appearance. He that made him can make his sword to approach unto him speaks to the power of your imagination to draw near to the divine presence within. The mountains bring him forth food, then, is a parable of inner provision: when you dwell in the awareness of the I AM, nourishment pours from the inner mountains of imagination. The beasts of the field play around, symbolizing thoughts and impulses that roam, yet your core sovereignty remains intact. Do not bend to conditions; embody the one truth: I am that I AM, and all provision follows from that awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and assume the I AM as your fixed center, feeling the inner bones of brass and iron as your durable faith. Then image the mountains of your mind supplying nourishment, until life is felt as belonging to your inner sovereignty.
