Inner Judgment and Humility: Job 40

Job 40:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 40 in context

Scripture Focus

11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
12Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Job 40:11-12

Biblical Context

The verses call for casting out the rage of wrath against the proud, to abase and bring low the arrogant, and to tread down the wicked. They present humility as the remedy and the measure of true justice.

Neville's Inner Vision

The 'wrath' spoken of is not a personal fury but the fiery energy of your attention turned toward the belief in separation. The proud are states of mind—images of a separate self—you entertain. When you assume the position of the I AM, you cast that pride out by shifting your awareness. To 'look on every one that is proud, and bring him low' is to scrutinize the ego’s cherished pictures and revise them until they bow to the truth of your identity as I AM. To 'tread down the wicked in their place' invites you to insist upon alignment with divine consciousness, dissolving the sense of wickedness through inner humility. This action is not punishment of others but a transformation of your own inner atmosphere. By choosing humility, you realize that righteousness flows from within and that the kingdom is manifested as you rest in the I AM, revising the scene from separation to unity.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes, assume the I AM as your real state, and revise the scene by declaring, 'I cast out pride from my mind; I stand in humility; I am one with the I AM,' then feel that truth as present experience.
