Inner Image and Divine Voice
Job 4:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Job 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage shows a still image appearing before Job and a voice asking if mortals can be more just or pure than God.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let the scene be read as a drama inside your own consciousness. The image standing still before the eyes is a belief you have formed about yourself—an image born of limitation rather than truth. The silence is the quiet of your awareness, and the voice speaking is the inner I AM reminding you that God—your true being—cannot be outrun by human standards of justice or purity. When you take the question at face value—shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?—you are hearing the trap of comparing appearances to the eternal. The message here, in Neville's key, is that you are the awareness in which order and virtue already exist. No mortal measure can exceed the righteousness you already are as your inner reality. Therefore, revise the belief that you stand apart from God; yield to the truth that your ultimate standard is found within, and let that inner standard redraw your life until the sense of deficiency dissolves.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, align with the I AM within, revise any sense of deficiency into wholeness, and feel it real by whispering, 'I am the I AM, and in this awareness I am already just and pure.'
