Biblical Context
Job 39:19-25 portrays a horse of great strength and fearless resolve meeting armed men. The imagery points to inner power that stands ready in life’s battles.
Neville's Inner Vision
Ask of yourself: have you given the inner horse strength? In this reading, the horse is your imagination, a creature of will anointed by the I AM. Clothe its neck with thunder—feel a surge of certainty that travels from your spine to your breath. The glory of its nostrils is the luminous pulse of awareness that makes fear seem small. It paweth in the valley and rejoiceth in its strength, because you have assumed a state in which life is a field to be governed by order, not a threat to be endured. It goes forth to meet the armed men, not by force alone, but by alignment with your inner law. It mocks at fear and is not affrighted; you, too, can stand unshaken before anything that appears as danger. The quiver, spear, and shield are but sounds in the outer world; the horse swallows the ground with fierce resolve and does not believe the trumpet’s alarm. When you dwell in this inner posture, you will perceive the battle afar off as thunder of the captains from your own kingdom of consciousness.
Practice This Now
Imaginative practice: close your eyes and assume the inner warhorse state—fearless, strong, alive with thunder. Hold that feeling until it becomes your automatic response to challenge.
