Inner Wisdom in Job

Job 39:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 39 in context

Scripture Focus

16She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
17Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
Job 39:16-17

Biblical Context

The verse depicts a mother animal hardened toward her young, laboring in vain when fear governs her; it claims God has deprived her of wisdom.

Neville's Inner Vision

Job 39:16-17 speaks a condition you must know as a state of consciousness. The 'she' is not a creature apart but a symbol of a mind in which fear has hardened the heart toward what it loves. When fear dominates, the inner man projects a scene in which effort is fruitless and guidance seems withheld—‘her labour is in vain without fear’—as if wisdom itself were scarce. Yet the Bible is not describing punishment; it reveals that God hath deprived her of wisdom only insofar as you believe you are separate from the Source of all wisdom. The truth for you is that the I AM—the awareness you are—never withholds wisdom; you do when you identify with fear and lack. Return to the premise that you are the living wisdom of God, the very force that makes life fruitful. In this inner revision, you perceive your children, your projects, your life as a product of your perfected consciousness. When you rest in the certainty that you are the I AM, fear loses its grip and your outward labor becomes a blessed, purposeful expression.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and revise the scene by affirming, 'I am the I AM, wise and fearless; there is no separation between me and my offspring.' Then feel the truth of this new state as already real.
