Depths Of Light And Shadow
Job 38:16-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Job 38 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage asks whether a human can truly enter the mysteries of the sea, death, and the breadth of the earth, implying such knowledge lies beyond human reach. It underscores that these mysteries are governed by divine timing rather than human certainty.
Neville's Inner Vision
Job's questions are not geographic challenges but invitations to see the inner man. The springs of the sea, the gates of death, the breadth of the earth, the light and the shadow: all are images of your present state of consciousness. The verse asks, in effect, 'Do you know,' but Neville would hear it as: you can only know by awakening to the I AM within you. When you assume a new state, you step into those springs, revise your past limits, and walk in the light where formerly there was darkness. The treasures of snow and hail are the reserved powers you have not yet invited into expression; they are held in patience until trouble arises, at which time your ready state appears. Thus the outer world is not a distant stage but a reflection of your inner geography. By choosing, by feeling-it-real that you are already the one who traverses these places, you align with the divine order and permit the ripple of creation to respond.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes. Assume you have already entered the springs of the sea and walked through the doors of the shadow of death; feel the certainty of that consciousness and affirm, 'I am the I AM, and this inner knowledge shapes my world.'
