Job’s Inner Judgment Echo

Job 34:1-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 34 in context

Scripture Focus

1Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
2Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
4Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
6Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
7What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
Job 34:1-9

Biblical Context

Elihu urges wise listeners to test words and discern what is good. Job’s claim of righteousness and the notion that God has removed his judgment set the scene for a critique of judgment and true alignment with God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the inner theater of your consciousness, Elihu’s call to hear the wise is an invitation to become the discerning auditor of your own thoughts. Words are tasted as meat is tasted; they yield meaning only when you assume the state that corresponds to their truth. Choose to judge, not from longing for punishment or special status, but from a steady I AM awareness that knows itself as God’s living image. Job’s assertion—"I am righteous"—is a familiar stance of the ego; the claim that God has removed judgment points to the belief that you are separated from divine order. The remedy is not rebellion but revision: test your associations, the company you keep in inner beliefs, and the idea that delighting in God profits nothing. When you drink scorning like water, you reveal a mind that believes itself apart. But you can turn, right now, toward the conviction that you are the beloved of God, and that every wound is transmuted by recognizing the I AM within. In that inner turn, judgment becomes discernment, and inward delight becomes outward truth.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and revise any statement about your righteousness. Repeat 'I AM' until you feel the inner judge align with God’s delight in you.
