Divine Redirect of Purpose

Job 33:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 33 in context

Scripture Focus

17That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
18He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
Job 33:17-18

Biblical Context

The passage describes God guiding a person away from his own aims and pride, preserving the soul and life from ruin.

Neville's Inner Vision

Know that this line speaks not of punishment, but of inner redirection. God is the I AM within you, and the moment you recognize your true identity, the mind withdraws you from the narrow purpose your ego insists upon. Pride loses its grip because you realize you are not the creator of your fate but the channel through which the Divine moves. The 'pit' and 'sword' are the inner dangers dissolved by rising consciousness—the thoughts that would cut you off from life become awareness itself, a shield rather than a threat. As you imagine a state of being that is already this divine order—safety, guidance, and creative purpose—the old aims fall away, not by struggle, but by the steady revision of your assumption. Your life extends not by fighting circumstance, but by clinging to the I AM as your source and keeping your focus on the higher function you serve.

Practice This Now

Assume right now that you are guided by the higher I AM. Revise any ego-driven aim to align with that divine purpose, and feel the new state as already real.
