Inner History of Guidance

Job 31:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 31 in context

Scripture Focus

18(For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb;)
Job 31:18

Biblical Context

The verse speaks of a lifelong, fatherly guidance extended from youth. It presents an intimate relationship of care from birth onward.

Neville's Inner Vision

From Neville's vantage, this is not a matter of outer history but the anatomy of your inner state. Job's claim that he was 'brought up as with a father' and that he guided from my mother's womb is a description of the I AM within you consistently taking protective, guiding stance toward your life. The 'child' is your present being—your current situation bathed in the aura of memory, discipline, and attention—and the 'father' is the inner ruler of consciousness who never abandons. When you believe that your life has been guided since youth by this inner authority, you awaken to the fact that Providence is a law of consciousness you can assume. In effect, you can revise your sense of vulnerability by dwelling in the feeling that guidance is constant, intimate, and immediate. Assume that your inner father—your divine I AM—has guided you from the womb of your innermost life and continues to steward your steps now. The result is a felt reality: your present reality becomes the echo of that steadfast assumption.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the inner guardian state: I am the one who has guided my life from youth. Feel the warmth of that inner father within and let it stamp your current reality as real.
