Inside Job: The Wisdom Within

Job 28:12-28 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 28 in context

Scripture Focus

12But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
13Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
15It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.
18No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
23God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
24For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
26When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
27Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Biblical Context

Wisdom is not a commodity to purchase, nor is it found in the land of the living. It is discovered by turning consciousness toward the I AM and departing from evil as understanding.

Neville's Inner Vision

Job asks where wisdom may be found, and the answer comes as a whisper to the inner ear: wisdom is the alignment of your consciousness with the order of the I AM. In Neville's language, it is not a treasure to be bought but a state you enter. The text declares that even gold, silver, and jewels cannot equal it; thus, wealth cannot convince the mind to surrender to truth. When you acknowledge that God understands and knows the path, you discover that wisdom is the inner perceptivity—the seeing eye behind your thoughts. You look to the ends of the earth only because you imagine you are apart from the whole; yet the whole is the I AM you already are. The way for the winds and the waters is weighed by your inner measure, and the decree for rain becomes your inner conviction that life responds to your assumption. Therefore, the fear of the LORD is the very architecture of your awareness, and departing from evil is the movement of consciousness toward its natural harmony. Wisdom arises when you awaken to this truth within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM as the ruler of your world. Revise a current concern by declaring, 'The wisdom of God is mine now; I depart from evil and know the way,' and feel that truth become real in your chest.
