Job 2:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 2 in context

Scripture Focus

3And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Job 2:3

Biblical Context

God identifies Job as a perfect, upright man who fears God and avoids evil, and notes that Job maintains his integrity even as Satan tests him and a destructive purpose is moved against him without cause.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner theatre of your consciousness, Job represents a state of awareness that remains perfect and upright. The LORD’s inquiry to Satan invites you to notice that you already possess an unwavering integrity—the I AM behind every thought. When you hear “feareth God, and escheweth evil,” translate this as reverence for life and a refusal to identify with fear or wrong in your inner world. The clause “without cause” reveals that no outer circumstance can touch the essential you; the trial is only an inner movement, a shifting scene within your mind. The supposed showdown with God and Satan is really a dialogue inside your own awareness between doubt and the steadfast I AM. The true fact remains: the Imago Dei—your divine idea—stays intact, regardless of appearances. By choosing to inhabit this inner integrity, you align with your real power and discover that your being cannot be destroyed by any outward test.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I AM the I AM, utterly intact. For five minutes, feel your inner posture of uprightness and reverence; if doubt arises, revise it by repeating, 'I AM that I AM; my integrity cannot be moved by outer scenes.'
