Job 18:8-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 18 in context

Scripture Focus

8For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
9The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.
10The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
Job 18:8-10

Biblical Context

These verses describe a man ensnared by nets and traps placed on his path, illustrating how difficulty often arises from one’s own steps.

Neville's Inner Vision

The image is a map of the inner life: the net cast by the feet is the self-image we carry, the snare on the heel the stubborn habit we move with, and the trap on the way the subtle beliefs under our path. The robber prevailing represents fear and judgment that seem to overpower us when we identify with a victim rather than the witnessing I AM. But there is no outside tyrant—consciousness is the arena of both bind and release. When you awaken to the I AM, you observe the scene rather than inhabit it. You revise by affirming that you are already free, that the nets and traps are merely movements of consciousness dissolving in awareness. In this light, trials become invitations to re-choose the self you identify with, and the apparent snares fall away as you persist in the felt reality of your wholeness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In the present moment, assume the I AM as your true state and revise the scene: 'I am not caught; I am the observer.' Feel the freedom as if it already is yours, then move gently along the inner path.
