Quieting Mockery Within
Job 17:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Job notes the presence of mockers and that his eye remains fixed on provocation. This reveals the inner clash of faith and doubt amid suffering.
Neville's Inner Vision
Ask yourself: who is the 'mockers' and what is the 'provocation' you see? In this Neville lens, they are inner states masquerading as others. The eye that continues in provocation is the attention you give to disturbance; the true I AM—the inexpressible awareness behind all scenes—remains untouched by any outer jeer. Therefore, the apparent mockery does not threaten you; it reflects a previously entertained belief. By choosing to inhabit a higher state, you revise the impression: you are the observer, not the victim of the scene. Declare, in feeling and imagination, that you are the I AM, the continuous consciousness that can rise above every provocation. When you dwell in that awareness, the external voices lose their grip, and the heart steadies. Perseverance emerges not from endurance of pain, but from the realized presence of God within, the I AM that witnesses and thereby transforms the experience itself.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the I AM now as the sole awareness. Revise the scene by affirming, 'I am the observer; mockery cannot move me,' letting that assurance glow until the mind feels calm.
